Yes. The MCP61 chipset apic does not play well with linux. But works very well otherwise.

This would surely turn away many who just want to try out Linux and would have added up to the Linux user-base otherwise.
Caveat Number 1 Always check the chipset numbers and google/linux on the net. Caveat Number 2 never rely on a net install Caveat Number 3 Always check the Media for errors AND your brand of dvd drive.
Most of the mobos and bios combos are full of bugs. To work around these they set up themselves a t much less than maximum performance. When linux readjusts stuff like DMA and interrupt routing things start playing up. Also linux ACPI was very bad and is just tolerable right now (never mind other OSes). For desktops you must check the video and sound engine chip numbers before purchasing.
