This is Prof. Avinash from KMC College , Khopoli.
These are points in brief for the workshop 1. Apache Web Server demonstration . 2. Network configuration and management system. 3. FTP server configuration and ftp commands. 4. Remote access commands and UUCP commands. 5. Internet connections. 6. Printer configurations. 7. Downloading, rpm and mounting of devices. 8. Desktop sharing from other systems with disk and diskless system.
About depth and details of the commands I will send the details as early as possible. Due to Shivjayanti it's holiday in our college so the details of remuneration are not available at present but will be informed as early as possible.
The dates of workshop are fixed. that 1st and 2nd of the March. We have repeat the total contents on the second day for the second batch.
So please suggest the persons who can proceed for the workshop.

Configuration of init.d scripts files- /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions ,
/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd,
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd.conf tcpd daemon - /etc/inetd.conf
Apache web server The default directory and web site directories, Starting and stopping web server, Configuration files-httpd.conf, srm.conf, access.conf How to access a web page from remote terminal.
Downloading part Using rpm to install software ( say loki games) Mounting and copy the data from floppy and CD-ROM. Downloading printer drivers for Linux support from
internet.
Installing s/w from compressed archives .tar.gz. Downloading compressed archieves from online sites.
Internet connections To access from multiple nodes. PPP, Kppp, gnomeppp, rp3 and manual ppp connections. Chat scripts and Slip-drip script. PART II ] NETWORKING AND PRINTER PART ( This part every student will do on his
terminal ).
Setting FTP Server - FTP daemon, Anonymous FTP : anon FTP user accounts : anonymous directories ftp/etc, ftp/etc/passwd, ftp/etc/group,
ftp/bin, ftp/lib
Tools ftpshut, ftpwho, ftpcount Files ftpaccess, ftphosts, ftpusers ftpgroups
ftpconversions, xferlog.
TCP/IP Protocol Network addresses, class-based IP addressing , Netmask, CIDR, Broadcast, Gateway and Name server
addresses.
Files - /etc/hosts, /etc/networks , /etc/HOSTNAME , /etc/ services, /etc/protocols,
/etc/sysconfig/network
Name server switch - /etc/nsswitch.conf Networks commans ifconfig, route, ping, netstat
Remote commands and UUCP rwho, rlogin, rcp, rsh, ruptime Installing and configuring UUCP, UUCP addressing, uname, uucico, uuxqt, uuto and uupick, uucp and uustat, uux
commands.
Managing Printers PrintTool utility, Linuxconf utility, printer devices and
/etc/printcap file, remote printers /etc/hosts.lpd file the print queue and lpr, lpq, lpc, lprm commands
DNS Introduction to DNS concepts, BIND, DNS servers, Linuxconf DNS configuration, named daemon and named.conf
file
There are two batches A and B. On 1st of March batch A will come. The contents of the
first day
will be repeated for Batch B on 2nd March. Timings 8.00 am to 10.30 am 10.30 am to 11.00 am break 11.00 am to 01.15 pm The remuneration will be 1200/- Rs. per day. Also 1000/- Rs. will be given only for the testing &
setting purpose
for workshop requirements. You can do testing and setting on any day upto 28th Feb.
H/W and S/W status Red Hat Linux with X-Windows installed on 10 machines. Internet connections are not set. FTP server is not working properly. Telnet is working. Machines pings the another machine.
