Hi noel, its pretty easy to connect to any irc server .. what u need is a IRc client to connect .. on linux OS u can use Xchat or Xirc for x-windows chat .. else if u r not running X then u can use bitchX for connecting to the server ... u can also telnet to a server & from there run "BitchX" or just type "irc" to run the irc client ..
when the irc client starts just type this --> /server irc.freeos.com for more faster access u can connect to some other port which irc usually accepts is /server irc.freeos.com: 6669 or 7000 after connecting to the server u will get a welcome msg .. & thatz it what u need to do is just join a channel ... that can be achieved y typing --> /join <#urchannelname> for. e.g . /join #linux
& ur done .. start chatting on the mains .. for msging or sending a msg to an individual in pvt ... type this --> /quote <nicknameto msg> & start ur conversation ... thatz it ... huh
for any more info .. u can go to www.irchelp.org or mail me ;)
cheers~ </shahazad>
