No idea but the live CD of Kubuntu and Ubuntu 8.10 will not boot beyond the initial graphical display showing a blank background and mouse arrow. Xbuntu 8.10 does boot fully till the desktop. Tried it with different media. The same media successfully loaded Kubuntu 8.10 on my Acer Aspire One via home made USB DVD drive.
Recently I downloaded the latest 2.6.27.8 kernel and compiled it. It somehow does not detect my IDE drives properly and I get kernel panic after initial text messages. However this is a different case and I am still looking into the reasons. Need to check the ide support in menuconfig
