Forget accessing mails. MTNL does not allow one to send emails consistently. They have submitted their dialup ip address list to RBLS spamblock lists. I get failure deliveries from all around when i use my local mail server at home. Same is the case with other ISPs (read VSNL).
OP isn't sending email directly. OP is smarthosting via gmail.
