I cant really understand your question. However from what I understand, you want to find out whether the remote computer you are trying to connect from needs any additional software. [ Please correct me if I am wrong ].
actually i got my answer. yes it does require a server like VNC-server or any remote desktop server.
Using a package called vnc-java , You can access your computer from any location that has a Java -enabled web browser.
yeah i installed the vnc java but have to configure it. and read it from google.
