Remember the hulla ballo that was created when someone suggested using meebo? :O
That someone was me. If you really want it, then we can have a nice debate on this, and I can clearly explain to you why it was at all needed.
Umm... there is no need. I remember all the 'security risks' and 'identity thefts' that were covered the last time :P
Why blame meebo? Because its the new kid on the block, and not as big as Yahoo! MSN, or Google? How do you know that the big names are not giving out your ID to some unwanted place?
Its ok to give gmail your gmail id & password and yahoo your yahoo id & password but not vice versa. Some services ( sms.ac, hi5, ringo, some IQ testing services and spammers ) misuse your id and people should guard against it. But as we can see, that guy didnt and we got "spammed". Yes, my spam box is full of such invites from people i dont even know. People should use an alternate id for such things :P.
And yes Kenneth, I think you are going way over board. Who are you to decide to boot the chap? Sure he has made a mistake. But then I don't think that has been repeated by him. Who are you to single handedly force the point that people need to be booted without any warning? I mean I thought this mailing list's code of conduct was drafted by some knowledgeable person in a reasonably democratic way. Ok Hyderabad does it, Chennai does, so what? So what man? You are taking this issue to such an extent as to start another deluge of OT posts.
Please calm down. Even I was with him on this one.
Tell me onething everybody. What happens if your mail account gets infected by viruses of the sort that keep sending mails to all the addresses in our address book. Its theoretically all right to talk about how one should not give around his ID, blah, blah.... But in such a case you are realy the victim and not the transgressor.
I guess we're quite sure that a virus hasn't infected his account. And I guess most / all people here are using linux so the possibility of what you suggest is almost 0. I'm just kidding ;). I guess I sorta agree that hes a victim but not really in this case :P
