Hello,
Just finished installing the HP K209a PSC (with economy cartridges) in Lenny.
Went to http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html and after entering the proper details of the OS, it confirmed that I had to download the package. All instructions are on the site with screenshots. However after a successful package install (select the custom options and choose yes to un-install the older hplip package) , neither the printer or scanner got detected. The user (me) was added to the lp, saned and lpadmin groups and viola the printer and scanner was detected. For some reason the HP utility does not start from the KDE menu. One has to open a gui terminal and type hp-setup. On doing hp- and tab twice you get a lot of utility options. Using the hp gui itself the printer was installed. Kooka detected my scanner and I was scanning away. If anyone wants to have a better utility, I found one in my apt-cache. It is called 'quteinsane' and it is a frontend for sane. It is more glamorous and has nice options.
