Have you installed wvdial ? If not, install it. Its very easy to use and configure. If you have installed it then run 'wvdialconf'. It will check your modem and write all the required settings in /etc/wvdial.conf. You will have to be root to do all this.
what extra settings do you use? is there anything i should be including in kppp? please help. thank you
Nothing. Just select 'chap' for authentication. Give your username and password. Thats it. If you are interested, then you should enable seeing the logfile when it connects. It gives out lot of messages which will help you to understand what is happening.
