Sometime Today, AH cobbled together some glyphs to say:
A mechanism for knowing who has made the edit: please put your name and what you did in the Edit Summary box. It's that simple :).
What stops me from using your name? There are many people out there who'd want to change information pretending to be someone else.
Go on... give me some credit :).
