[ILUG-BOM] Do DSL providers always give their subscribers public IP addresses ?

Hello:

For a project that I'm working on, I require that the customer's computer be accessible over the Internet.

Using dyndns, I'm able to allow inward HTTP and SSH connections. However, the IP address allocated to my DSL router is a public IP address.

I assume that if my ISP providing my DSL service were to also place me behind a NAT (allocate me a private IP address), then I'd have to rule out inward connections.

So, is my understanding correct ?

And do ISPs providing DSL based service always provide public IP addresses ?
