Hi,
The best solution is to use Synaptic. Synaptic was originally meant to be a front end for apt-get on Debian based systems. I saw it first in Ubuntu. However it has been ported for RPM based distributions too. Atleast I had used it myself, with great satisfaction in Fodera Core 2, although I have not tried it out on Fedora Core 5 yet. However I read that support for apt-get would be removed in later releases of Fedora Core.
You can get the Fedora Core 5 RPM at http://atrpms.net/dist/fc5/synaptic/. If anybody wants I have the tarball too, and can mail it to you individually.
