A major investor in The SCO Group wants out of its financial relationship immediately. BayStar Capital, the Larkspur, Calif.-based investment firm which funded $20 million of a $50 million cash infusion to SCO Group only last October, has notified SCO Group by letter that it wants to cash out of the deal and redeem its 20,000 shares of Series A-1 Convertible Preferred Stock in the Unix sales and service firm

IBM pact with NISG for e-governance in India

The National Institute of Smart Government (NISG) and IBM India have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that marks the beginning of a relationship promoting e-governance at the national level. Underscoring Novell's commitment to the Linux operating system, the company's chief financial officer on Friday hinted at further acquisitions. Joseph Tibbetts, pointing to Novell's purchase late last year of two leading Linux companies -- Boston's Ximian and Germany's SuSE -- said the networking giant is on its way to becoming the world's leading Linux solutions provider. Elsewhere, alternative to Windows should play to its own strengths, says Novell Linux guru.
