Hi nilesh
Delete all entries of adsl from webmin go to the console , log in as root and run adsl-setup.
Try running this command as root and see if you get an answer.
$pppoe -I eth1 -A -m 1412
eth1 is the interface to which your pacenet line is connected. This will give an output of this form.
Access-Concentrator: <sometext> Service-Name: <servicetext> -------------------------------------------------- AC-Ethernet-Address: <some mac address>
then go to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts and edit ifcfg-ppp0 and add the entries ACNAME=<sometext> # whatever reply you got in the above command SERVICENAME=<servicetext>
(you can initially try only with the ACNAME entry)
cd to /etc/ppp just make sure pap-secrets contains your username and password. then run adsl-stop just to kill all active adsl scripts and try connecting using adsl-connect
If you still cannot connect , get in touch with pacenet and tell them to create a Linux username for you.
Hi,
Just check whether you are getting a default gateway by using route -n there should be a line like 0.0.0.0 202.55.22.22 ppp0 UG #something
if there is no default gateway add it using route add default gw dev ppp0
then check whether you can resolve websites and make sure you have your ISP's dns entires in /etc/resolv.conf
try doing a dig yahoo.com or try going by ip-address

Hi, I've been a Pacenet user for more than a year and had given up trying to
connect through 'rp-pppoe'.However, after the discussion that took place on this list a few days ago, I decided to try again.
Using username@linuxuser, I can connect & the connection shows up as
ppp0 in 'ifconfig -a'.However, I cannot ping any IP addresses and connect to any web-sites outside the local net.Same problem in Slack 9 as well as FC1.
In WinXP, I setup a dial-up connection that uses username@linuxuser as
the username.Using this, I can successfully connect without the Pacenet dialer.
Any suggestions as to what I should try? Thanks in advance & I apologise for bringing up the same topic again.
Regards, Michael.
