Hi, I am not sure if i can be of any help. I am new to linux. But this is what i would do. check if eth0 is up. or bring it up with 'ifconfig eth0 up' or go to settings >> Network Device Control and select eth0 and click activate. now try pinging ur own ip address. this will make sure ur network is up. try to ping ur default gateway to make sure u can connect to ur gateway.
