That is a real suprise, since I have been using the Wifi 11g on the 3002 for the last 3 days for the entire day.
Thats bad documentation on part of acer, isn't it? ;)
I think the above already proved you wrong.
read on :)
The matter is not of opinions. Just dont try to feed wrong info to people. There are people who will go by what is said in mails here when making a decision.
Thats the second time you're talking about "wrong" info :)
That is a real joke. Sempron 2800 is a 64bit core chip. Dont bother comparing with a pentium m.
Sempron is *based* on 64bit technology. That doesnt mean it can RUN 64bit programs/OSes. What it means is if AMD wants, in the future, it could use Sempron's architecture to introduce a 64bit version of the chip. It is only *that* chip which would be able to run 64bit apps/programs. Bottom line, you can't run any 64bit OSes. Thus, no 64bit apps. So you can very well compare AMD Sempron and Pentium-m, technically. But it wouldn't be right to compare them since they are *not* targeted at the same market.
Just for everybody's GK, AMD Turion is a true 64bit chip meaning it is based on AMD64 bit technology and can run 64bit apps seamlessly as can other 64bit chips like AMD Opteron, AMD Athlon, etc...
Don't believe me? Before you go off to google or call up your Acer tech support have a look at these links:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/sempron-3100e_3.html
Look at the pics. You will clearly see AMD64, EM64T, IA64 disabled :). Plus I am quoting the author of the article here:
<------- "As for the AMD64 technology support, Sempron processors based on the E revision of Palermo core do not have it, either. I have to stress that this is a very disappointing drawback of all budget CPUs from AMD, because the 64-bit version of the Windows XP operating system is about to be released this month already." -------->
Your CPU is based on the the D revision which means it doesnt even have the SSE3 extensions and is a 32bit chip which is _based_ on 64bit core ;). Too bad. Ok, now let's hear it from the horse's mouth itself i.e. www.amd.com :
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_9331,00.htm...
<------- "The AMD64 platform is leading the industry to pervasive 64-bit computing. The AMD Opteron processor, the AMD Athlon 64 processor, and AMD Turion 64 mobile technology comprise the AMD64 family." -------->
As I had stated originally in my post, I was going to stay away from this thread. But I couldn't resist giving out correct information :)
Regards, Dinesh
