Probably a bit more work for the mods but most off-the-line threads seem to spawn themselves from Commercial threads of late.
There is no need for moderation. If you are bothered by it you can filter the mail yourself. I see that you have a gmail account. You can create a filter with To: linuxers@mm.glug-bom.org and has the words "Commercial" in the subject/mail add add a tag called "likely spam". Then delete the mails automatically or manually delete them in your leisure time.
