I had read this in a magazine but not tried it out, that if windows is reloaded over a dual boot win-lin system then to get back the grub loader in linux, reload linux over the reloaded windows but avoid making any changes in the existing linux setup directories or files and from the programs to be loaded list, select none (deselect all). This will only reinstall the grub over the existing linux installation.
