you can use realserver from Real Networks, if you have real media files.it is propreitory though and would require some dough. It might allow some minimum no. of users like 20 or something.
also if you're planning to stream mp3 format files, then i would seriously suggest icecast and ices. you should get them from freshmeat. both are under GPL i think.
