hi all
ashok had mailed calling for speakers and idea for the workshop at Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engg College abt GNU/Linux awareness, but its strange to get a luke warm response from the list.
I think those who are interested have already given their names and topics they would like to cover. But you did not find time to co-ordinate the workshop well. So there is no point in deploring the ppl for their lack of interest. Even you din't see a point in attending the last GLUG meet, where you could have discuss many issues and found the solutions/suggetions.
currently we have chalked out a tentative schedule that is as follows :
Day - I :- 19th April 2003
- Understanding the Software Freedom Murder of the Myths
- Getting around with GNU - will talk about OS basics, GNU/Linux CLI and Desktops.
- Installing a dual boot GNU/Linux System - redhat and/or knoppix.
- Wonders of GNU - Where and how is GNU being used. How can students benifit ?
- Question - answers with Handson session - for batch 1.
Day - II :- 20th April 2003
- Text editing with VI and Emacs and programming in Shell Scripts in Bash and C with GCC.
- or maybe we will have will have QT programming or something around gui
- Basics of System Administration and networking.
- Intro to Apache and writing small CGI applications using PHP.
- handon - batch 2.
contrarary to schedule of Ashok, your current schedule does not include the topic I was to take. Also you have not finalise the speakers for each topic. It's about time that topics with speakers are finalised NOW. you sure want all your speakers to come prepared, right?
So put your act togather and act fast, before it's too late.
