Anyway, the reason for this post is that I see many people using MTNL Triband connections. I was wondering if they could give me some heads up on the quality of Triband. I have heard that their upside is that they good speeds & uptime but their down side is pathetic customer care. Is that correct? On a 256K connection do you guys get constant 30-32KBps speeds or do they drop?
So far download is always >220kbps. Of late ihav been getting speeds of 320 ~ 330 Kbps often - ya no jokes. Downloaded kubuntu and 400 MB of Kubuntu live in one night. That is 305Kbps!!. Hail MTNL god please let them do whatever they are doing right now. Dangerous part - no bill for 5 months, then one bill of Rs.6000/- including static ip, additional email ids, modem rentals etc. Quick check - not overcharged thank god.
So far they beat the shit out of all the isps. Wonder how the gsm and cdma services are.
but I surely dont want to run to the Prabhadevi exchange everytime something goes wrong with my connection / router.
Most of the time when your link fails power cycling the modem sets it right - nasty problem in unmanned installs (soft reset works sometimes butnot always. So ive built a relay connected to rts with all the unmanned installations.
I simply dont have the time or inclination to visit their exchanges.
That should be mandatory part of every engineers curriculum. Imagine passing out of engineering comletely uninitiated in the rituals and prayers to invoke the blessings of the telecom gods. U might even be invited to the server room if you can spew impressive tech jargon like the "mac is not ping the dhcp of the dns in the pxe rom"
What say you guys? Any good / bad experiences? Tips? Please let me know.
Use MTNL.
