Excuse the OT question , but how can you presume / judge that no attempt was made ? imho, maybe he has made an (unsuccesfull) effort. If he *knew* the answer , why would he waste his time asking for help on the list. Patience towards many new users who are not tech-geeks is important as their unfamiliarity with new terms/technology is a genuine impediment and is not intended to waste others time or dependence.
The issues mentioned in these links/articles remain the same irrespective of gender.

If the goal is to spread Linux among the masses in India, pushing them away with rude comments like "RTFM" is not helpful at all. It pushes them to square zero (read M$).
