My colleague and I bought a pack of 100 MosherBaer black and red printed CDRs and shared 50-50. However while burning 2 CDs in Gnome I had problems. In K3B on the lappy, it gave an error that 20x is not supported by the media or by the drive, so it automatically scaled down to 14 or 16x. However my colleague is able to record at full speed in 'the other' OS on his pc.
Are both drives the same?. I can burn moserbaer 52x cds at 52x on a Sony DVD and 32x on a LG cd writer which is 32x capable. Sarge R4, k3b0.11.20
The pc has a Samsung 24x writer while the Laptop has a 24x DVD combo. I usually go for 16x or 20x. Never full speed. I am not happy with Gnome's in-built burner. Anyway, I will burn some more CDs on KDE and Gnome to probe deeper.
