Could you just give me a pointer as what the issue exactly is? I mean what is the difference between the Windoze and the Free client? I heard that the Windows client keeps scanning the ports and picks one which is available. Is this the 'magic'?
libyahoo2 already does all of this, so it's not the answer. Perhaps you need to analyse your network traffic using a packet analyser like ethereal or something and then come up with an idea of what the difference is.
Trillian guys still take it forward, right ? AFAIK despite attempts from Y! to trump non-official clients someone does post a workaround. I don't know if its indeed to libyahoo.
There's a whole load of functionality in mainline Y! thats not there in libyahoo. These days I even find it difficult to add new users under gaim. I have to do it in windows so it shows on serverlist. Then pip back to linux. Bad but have no time to look into the problem. I think libyahoo is falling back wrt official client.
Its always a catch up game. I know because I see some interesting debates for samba for which I currently develop.
