the n-force motherboard has DMA disabled as default enable it
also download the latest display/sound drivers from Nvidia( earlier intel-i810 sound drivers were used )
caution: the Nvidia drivers are closed source but i guess u have no choice since u have already purchased the hardware mandrake 9.0 and 9.1 work well with these drivers and this hardware
all the same if you don't want to run X just change the runlevel and give it the alsa drivers for i810
