hi i dont nkow what typ of subjs are taught at sangli colleges but bbay univ doesnt stress as much on core cs topics. enggring students undertstand more of diodes and opamps than drivers and os.
though i cant put in many suggestions but i remember the first linux workshop in my college. since even windows users at seldom use command line ... junta first of all takes time on terms with the idea of typing to get things dont and not clicking also power of shell scripts. also mounting drives is something that takes some time to digest.
when talking abt commands it may be good to use a lcd projector and show them online.
if the last session is about installing a typical linux on a typical h/w. and basic maintenance like chdsk, mount.
if you can get that ibm adv where a guy calls the cops saying his servers were stolen and later learns that they were all transfered to linux servers, its a good way to bridge between the fact that how a system mainly developed in a college labs can now run the biggest commerce applications. (i guess someone had posted its link on the list a month back or so )
asking how to do things in winny then explaining how it can be done better in linux is really a entralling exp for noivces. eg "Can you run windows on your watch ? " and then showing the snapshots of watch runnig linux. or maybe any such applications.
a compilation of list of distributions, websites, books, mags and mailing list can be handy for new converts.
take care Harsh
