How can I change the screen resolution in RHL7.1 I checked the control panel but I didn't found any tool to change the screen
vi /etc/X11/XF86Config or XF86Config.4 (not sure which one you use).
It is XF86Config file. I found it.
Scroll down to the Screen section for the driver that you use. You will find Display subsections there. Just change the order of the modes in there. If you want to set a default colour depth, then before the first Subsection line, add DefaultColorDepth 16
The problem is solved but not totally. I'm succesful to change the screen resolution, but still the the screen looks like oval shaped [ something like this (__) ] & not rectangle. I tried all the possiable resolutions with the screen but it didn't worked out. Now I think I should try to change the screen refresh rate. There is no way I found to change it. Can you please tell me how to change the screen refresh rate?
Here are some containts from XF86Config file you may need. -------------------------------------------------------------- # The svga server Section "screen" Driver "svga" Device "sis6326" Monitor "SAMd556" DefaultColorDepth 16 ( I also tried 24 )
Subsection "Display" Depth 24 Mode "800x600" ( I also tried 600x480 & 1024x768 ) ViewPort 0 0 ( What is this ViewPort ?) EndSubsection EndSection ----------------------------------------------------------------
There is no row to define refresh rate.
Thanks & Regards, SAMEER :))
