I've already run out of PCI slots. What do I do now? Any other option? I have only one slot left which is at present occupied by internal modem, which I can afford to remove.
your machine (using cross cable) or to a hub. Also the machine
receiving the
cable connection will have to provide proxy service to your
machine. Your
neighbour's machine can either be a linux box or a win 95/98
machine. For
linux you can use squid and for windows you can use winproxy.
Of course for you to browse, his machine will have to be on.
Can I use some external mechanism by which the connection is neither dependant on my m/c nor on any one of my neighbour's m/c? Where the banwidth is distributed before it reaches anyone's PC. Something like normal Cable TV connection is given to us. There's some kind of a joint to which every flat's cable is connected on each floor. I'm not very much into all these things, but I'd seen something similar to this at one of my friend's place.
We are using hathway cable connecition in our office connected
to a linux
box which provides browsing and other services to 40 other
machines.
I'm interested in the BSES broadband connection as Hathway has not started operating in my locality. I think the above mentioned arrangement shud be possible with BSES connection. If I can get something like that then it can be very economical and it won't be much tough to anyone pockets.
Thanks
