I use slackware8 and redhat7.3 and I have shared my swap, /home, /tmp and /var/spool/mail partitions. My partitions are ext3 and reiserfs, but my slackware kernel (2.4.5) doesn't recognise ext3 - so it just treats it as ext2.
I have no other problems. Everything works perfectly.
Oh, yeah, I use lilo from RH7.3 written on the MBR.
I also have one shared FAT partition where I store documentation, etc. This is readable even if I boot from a DOS floppy.
