It always was just a tool to connect 2 pieces of hardware / software together - once shorn of M$ FUD.
Then once you are on the net what matters which application is best by which suppliers. For mail and groupware I may connect to Google For Word or doc I may connect M$
That means no purchasing of Apps
So apps is not the future.
Now the BIG Question for the companies who are heavily dependant on their apps what ................
What apps??. It's the service. Like obody cares wether hotmail runs on BSD or IIS whatever
