yes they offer you a realworld ip ... but sorry no hosting / smtp or dns on your box :-(
Well i get an average of 16K on this line ... mine is a so called 128K

what you should ask them is this:
- are they giving IPs through DHCP. If they don't understand that, say
Dynamic Host Protocol - somehow they seem to understand that.
Ask them what is the IP address you will get. You will recognise easily that 192.168.1.* means they are NATing you or proxying you. Ask them things like are you allowed to do MSN/Yahoo chat, voice chat, can you download music, etc.
I'm almost certain that all cable wallas provide a winproxy bases system, but don't know about DSL.
