Dear Members, I am facing a very strange problem. I have set up a small mail server for my organization running of ubuntu 8.04LTS server using postfix & dovecot +Get mail
It downloads mail from our mail server and passes to local users .Outgoing mail has to be routed via ISP (sify's) SMTP server .
The whole thing runs on vmware server 2.0
What is the 'host OS' for the VMWare server?
When the mail server is on the the rest of the organization cannot access mail , the moment I turn off the VM image , all of us get the access.
This part is not clear. From above it appears you have 2 mail servers. "All of us get access" to which mail server when you turn off the VMware appliance?
All the computers are connected to net via a netgear router acting as gateway.
I tried http sniff and found huge amounts of data going through the server though no one seems to have sent anything..
By server you mean the VMware appliance? OR the host OS in the 'server' that is hosting the vmware appliance?
How can I solve this ?
Please describe your network topology only then when one can look at the potential trouble points. Also ensure, that your windows desktops are clean of all virii/trojans.
