Still willing to do it. I think I can spend the required time.
When I said co-ordination, it was perhaps a worng word. The problem is that I have never worked on such a project (I mean distributed programming team) and have not really worked much on linux as such. All software development we have done is on windows platform.
I used "coordination" since I do not know what is actually required. but dont worry on the time factor, I can provide as much as is required. Domain expertise is also not a problem.
I think accounting software on linux is not that difficult a task as such. In fact, I know some companies who have developed linux based accounting software here in India. But not gui based or browser-based (I think that is where we should go finally).
The main problem with an accounts type of software is that while it is easy enough to create in the first place, it is necessary to evolve it......Add more features and let the software mature. That is what makes the project long-term

Accounting software on linux...real ambitious.... If this is to be done, someone will have to spend *a lot* of time and
effort
providing the domain expertise....think about it... its not simple *co-ordination*

Hi, I am Saswata Banerjee. I am new in this group and am following the mails with interest.
I head a Cost Accounting firm. I think if you want to do things to make Linux more popular with Corporate users, we will need more of common

use software. If you wish to add an "Accounting Software" to your list of project, I will be willing to put in time to coordinate it (of course, someone here will have to tell me how this coordinating is done).
