hi i had a redhat 7.1 server connected over bnc cable to a windoze machine. No problems. I changed the server to mandrake10 and the cable to utp - just a crossover cable. the nic cards on the two machines have been tested and they work. When the cable is connected, both lan cards show a steady green light. But ping doesnt ping. They guy who made the cable says that if the green lights are steady on both sides it means the wiring is correct. Is he right?
