We are still short of at least 2 speakers for the workshop at SAKEC. Well, it's SoS time now. Please come forward to speak. Here is the schedule:
Day I (19th. April 2003) --------------------------
Pre-Lunch Session ------------------- 1) Getting around with GNU - OS basics, GNU/Linux CLI and Desktops. -- Harsh Busa. 1 - 1.5 hrs 2) Installing a dual boot GNU/Linux System. -- Dinesh Shah. 1 - 1.5 hrs. 3) "Economics of Free and Open Source Software and FLOSS in Education" -- Dinesh Shah
Sessions (2) and (3) will be combined!
Post Lunch Session -------------------- 4) Carrying out daily chores with GNU/Linux - Warren Brian Noronha. 5) Text editing with VI and Emacs and programming in Shell Scripts in Bash and C with GCC. -- SPEAKER NEEDED ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Talk #5 is one of the most important topics, since the hands-on sessions in the labs depend of this topic. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
6) Hands-on programming session on Knoppix in the lab. for 50 students out of 100. -- SAME SPEAKER AS FOR (5) ABOVE. 7) Q & A sessions for the remaining 50 students including maybe a small introduction to the PRC. -- Harsh Busa/Dinesh Shah
Threads (6) and (7) would execute simultaneously on different processors(classrooms).
Day II (20th April 2003) ----------------------------

1) Understanding the Software Freedom Murder of the Myths - -- Dr. Nagarjuna (1 hour) 2) Basics of System Administration and Networking. -- Trevor Warren ( 1 hour)
Post-Lunch Session --------------------
3) Introduction to GUI programming with QT or GTK. -- SPEAKER NEEDED - 1 hr OR ---- 3) Security - An Introduction -- SPEAKER NEEDED - 1 hr. OR ---- 3) An Introduction to Python. -- Maybe Dr. Nagarjuna 4) Intro to Apache and writing small CGI applications using PHP. Maybe an introduction to Perl. -- SPEAKER NEEDED 5) Hands-on programming session on Knoppix. for 50 students out of 100. 6) Q & A sessions for the remaining 50 students including maybe a small

Threads (5) and (6) would execute simlutaneously on different processors.
We are also on the lookout for someone who can talk on QT/GTK programming. We may then accomodating this one and get rid of some other talk.
This would really be beneficial. We may need to rearrange the sessions, depending on the availability of speakers for the orphaned topics.
Please suggest if the schedule is good enough. We have tried our best to
pack enough power!
