Afaik it's a radeon driver bug and is resolved in the latest kernel. Repeatedly switching between X and console also triggers the bug (black screen, locked keyboard). However ssh will work.
I am able to switch between X and console. I had updated the installation and will check the bug again.
Your 2nd post suggests that the agp is not radeon, in which case the bug would be something different.
