hello animesh,
My isp gives me fixed ip 172.16.2.47
mask 255.255.255.240
dns 172.16.1.1
gateway 172.16.1.1
wins 172.16.1.1
and there is no proxy . this connection works well in windows 2000 but not in linux. and important point is that whenever i ping to my gateway there is no response from it ( whether os is linux or windows).
