A Acer Aspire One is 17300 at lamington rd. I agree on the poorman bit. The only way the poor can have access to computer is free computer (cybercafes) in slum areas. Laptops are a long way from the poor.
A handheld is more expensive than a cell phone. If you are talking of eepcs LG is Rs.17500 afaik.
Wonder what poorman would afford that.
What exactly do you have in mind?
MTNL and BSNL are sitting on gold mines but unaware of it. The IPTV ( currently, STILL a disaster that can be corrected ) system uses a tiny box that acts as a Linux thin client and boots from the exchange server. The same can be modified with appropriate software/firmware, a keyboard and mouse and it becomes a poor man's computer that runs on the telly. A simple rental of Rs. 100/month with storage space on the server is all thats needed.
