AFAIK, Theo De Raadt was kicked out of the BSD group because he was considered to be very difficult to work with. "Free for All" or one of the other books that document open source mentions this. This rant against Linux sounds like a case of sour grapes. Also, it requires a special kind of personality to build a community around open source software and the ability to collaborate and inspire trust in others is essential. That's why Linux is where it is.
