hi i tried running sndconfig in my RHL7.1 but it says soundcore.o not found and tells me tht i should have a different type of kernel something like Redhat or linux 2.2 and above i have linux 2.2.14-5 but it doesnt work so rite now i am without any sound also i have a Conexant SoftK56 modem which is not detected can somebody pls help me out i have tried isapnp tools, can someone help me with that NAmit.

Hmm...RH 7.1 uses the 2.2.14-5 kernel?? Is that normal? I've got RH 6.2 that has 2.2.14-5..
