Hi
Linksys has released v8 of their immensely popular WRT54G Wi-Fi router. The v8 series have a serial number starting with CDFF or CDFG as against the CDFE serial numbers used for v7. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRT54G).
The v7 router prevalent in the Indian market currently has Atheros chipset and the firmware cannot be replaced by third party open source firmware such as DD-WRT etc. This is not the case with the v8 router. These use Broadcom chipset and hence, third party firmware can be installed on them.
I want to know if anyone has purchased or used the WRT54G v8 router in India? Also, have you tried to replace the firmware? Did you need any patches etc?
I want to purchase WRT54G v8 but I cant find any shop that is selling one. Everyone is selling v7 only. In case you know of any dealer or shop that is selling v8, please send me their contact information so that I may purchase the same.
With Warm Regards
