Ye folks of the lands of the *nixs, Greetings!
We, being the humble folks who use GNU/Linux powered magic boxes to sustain our kingdom, require wizards of the order of GNU/Linux to work with us on these said magic boxes.
So, if you think you have a powerful wand with great power, if you think you have shell spells which make even wrinkled wizards to open their bearded mouths in awe, if you think you have perls from such depths which few dare go in search of, if you think you can weave webs with the different protocols with such beauty that it all just .. works, if you think you can turn intruding evil into toads ...
well, if you think you love you work, you are welcome to come visit us at Cleartrip. Rest assured, if you take good care of our magic boxes, we take good care of you.

Hi quasi,
Reading that ad, I would apply immediately... if I wasn't doing what I am doing now.

Well if it would have been all that effective, you would have parted what you are doing at the moment to join the wonderland n show some magic :)
Nevertheless Quasi the post was quite interesting, made me feel as if i am in one of the harry potter's movie ;)

Aah. We would have liked to have you around. But I am sure we could co-operate on interesting projects. Cleartrip is indeed a fun place to work - where else do you think we would have used common lisp in production? We have several lisp and rails programmers here now, all doing cool stuff. What we miss is a kickass sysad who will take charge of the system and provide support ...

You didn't mentioned what kind of things the candidate has to be a wizard of.

and maybe I did'nt ? :) Maybe I meant what I wrote in the original email ? Maybe a kickass sysad is not such an undefined (or vaguely defined) term as some people think ? Maybe a kickass sysad will know what it means to be a kickass sysad ?
:-)

Nope. It just means that he needs to know just what he knows. He needs to know how to know stuff he does not know but needs to know. Simply put a normal feller who knows his basics, knows his capabilities and current limits, has the right attitude (which includes him knowing he can expand those limits) and has the willingness to learn.
My attempts at a poetic (sic) and funny (sic) invitation were due to the sheer boredom of doing these things ...

When did Harry Potter started doing Linux admin stuff? I hope Cleartrip is not looking to hire MTv style admins.

I thought that was self evident ...
But, yes, we are looking for a (one) good sysadmin.

this was the *first* reply to the thread - sent on 13th. Why are you replying to it on the 16th, long after it has become history?
Maybe he got fed up after he reached that node in the whole conversation thread. :-)
