Hello,
Ubuntu 13.10 will be released on October 17th. So, I was planning of keeping a release party on Oct. 20 (Sunday). If people here are interested, we can have a Mumbai LUG meeting at the same time! The venue will be Directi again but the time is not fixed yet. Any suggestions for time?
Also, there is currently discussion going on about having the Mumbai Python user group meetup and the Mumbai JavaScript user group meetup on the same day at Directi. I thought it would be great to combine all the events to maximise knowledge sharing. Does anyone have any objections to this?
Best Regards, Rigved

All of the above are FOSS related.
I think it is a good idea to combine a couple of events. However, I would suggest an agenda so that people of each respective interest group have an idea of what will be discussed.

I think it is a good idea to combine a couple of events. However, I would suggest an agenda so that people of each respective interest group have an idea of what will be discussed.
There is currently discussion ongoing on the MumPy (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/mumpy) and the MumJS (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/mumbaijs) Google Groups about topics. They should be finalised in the next couple of weeks. I will cross-post a summary of that discussion here, once it has been finalized, so that everyone here knows which topics will be covered by them.
In the meantime, we can get our agenda fixed. Please share suggestions on this thread.
My suggestions about activities for the Mumbai LUG meeting and Ubuntu Release Party:
1. Showcase the features of Ubuntu 13.10 (desktop, server) 2. Showcase your FOSS project (maximum 3 projects can be showcased due to time constraints) 3. Spotlight: Showcase a GNU/Linux distribution (other than Ubuntu because that will already be covered!)
Best Regards, Rigved

Hi Rigved,
Good going ! Am in.
So are you planning for a full day event ? If so we can accommodate some more topics.
If people are interested and time permits, I can conduct session on our various Embedded Linux/Android experiments with ARM-development boards such as Beaglebone, Cubieboard, Via-APC, RPi etc.
Also I can get some experts, who can deliver sessions on Linux Multimedia framework, OpenSource GIS systems, OpenSource TTS etc.

I am definitely interested in Siji Sunny's proposal on a presentation on Linux for ARM devices!
I just got my Raspberry Pi on Saturday, played with it most of Sunday.
I'm also planning to develop some projects on Beaglebone Black.
Cubieboard A20 is also a good board to develop with.
P.S.: I'm new to Linux, and got interested in it because of the interest the Raspberry Pi had generated. Just installed Ubuntu 12.04 on one of the office PCs a few days back, and am currently on a learning curve! On 29 Sep 2013 10:32, "jitendra" jituviju@gmail.com wrote:

Briefly.
1. compose a 'new' message when you want to start a **new** discussion (also called thread). Do *not* reply to some other discussion/thread and post your query. Note: changing the subject line is *not* a sufficient condition. This is called **hijacking** a discussion/thread. Also give a meaningful subject for your query so it helps others to gain from your discussion. This mailing list is archived and shows up in all search engines.
2. Do *not* top post.
3. Trim your quote and limit it to the points you are commenting on.
4. Interleave your comment immediately below the other author's points so the context of your comments are unequivocally clear.

Gmail sucks. Previous thread content appears in stooopid 3dot box, which you have to remember to click everytime. Since ALL mtnl static ips are black listed, AND a reverse dns lookup will fail for mtnl static ips, I cant use a proper mail client.

IMO, it is a matter of getting used to. When GMail switched to the new composer, I made the same mistake a few times. Now I click on the three dot thingy the first thing when I compose a reply.

@Jitendra, could you please update us on your proposed session as well?
@Rajeev, it would be great if you could take up the Spotlight session on Fedora 20.
Hi Rigved,
Yep I'm in for a spotlight on fedora 19/20beta. We can also follow up
with our QnA session.
Regards R. K. Rajeev
Dear Rigved / Everyone else,
Do accept my most sincere apologies, as I have to drop out of the plan for tomorrow. Some pressing family commitments have come up that will keep me tied up for the whole day. I feel really bad that I am missing the first ilug-bom meet after so many years even, and even more so since I had confirmed as a speaker. All I can ask of you all, especially Rigved, is your understanding, and be sure, I will owe you all a treat some day at a future ilug-bom event....
Regrets R. K. Rajeev
Let's make this an awesome event!

Hello,
No problem. We'll keep a future event at a 7-star hotel and you can treat us all there! ;)
I'll be there at the venue around 9. Just inform the security desk that you have come for the Ubuntu Release Party / Mumbai LUG meetup and you'll be redirected to the venue.
Best Regards, Rigved

I will be there around 9, but have to leave by 11.

You could use the keyboard shortcut, control-shift-A.
Alternatively, enable the "Quote Selected Text" lab extension and then select the text to quote (before hitting reply). Gmail does the right thing.

We will put up a RSVP page soon. You just need to RSVP and drop by on the event day. We are keeping RSVP compulsory this time as we have space constraints.

Mehul,
Google form may be a good option, easy to setup and manage.

So are you planning for a full day event ? If so we can accommodate some more topics.
Yes, it will be a full-day event but the time will be distributed between the Mumabi LUG meeting, Ubuntu Release party, Mumabi Python meetup and the Mumbai JavaScript meetup.
I was thinking of start the LUG meeting around 9:30 a.m. Then, we can have a showcase of FOSS projects, followed by the Ubuntu Release Party and the Spotlight session. All in all, we will have time from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for all these activities (Mumbai LUG meeting, Ubuntu Release Party and the Spotlight session).
We will have a break for lunch from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and then the Python and JS sessions will start.
The above timings are not set in stone yet. If anyone has any suggestions, please do share.
If people are interested and time permits, I can conduct session on our various Embedded Linux/Android experiments with ARM-development boards such as Beaglebone, Cubieboard, Via-APC, RPi etc.
Yes, a session on such ARM-boards will be very beneficial. I could bring my RPi and my Cubieboard as well! I still have not been able to get a Linux distro installed on the NAND of my Cubieboard2 yet! I just have not spent enough time yet on it.
Also I can get some experts, who can deliver sessions on Linux Multimedia framework, OpenSource GIS systems, OpenSource TTS etc.
Yes, we can have these sessions within the "FOSS projects" period. Could you provide more details?

I think it is a good idea to combine a couple of events. However, I
would
suggest an agenda so that people of each respective interest group have
an
idea of what will be discussed.
- Showcase the features of Ubuntu 13.10 (desktop, server)
- Showcase your FOSS project (maximum 3 projects can be showcased due
to time constraints) 3. Spotlight: Showcase a GNU/Linux distribution (other than Ubuntu because that will already be covered!)
Dear Rigved,
This sounds interesting. It is possible that by around this time, Fedora 20 beta will be out, so I would be happy to take a session introducing it. We could also follow it up with a session focusing on tips and tricks on how to smoothly transition common actions between various distro's and Desktop Environments. This would be invaluable to people like me who regularly have to work on various distros and support users on them.
Its been many years even since my last ilug-bom talk, so I do hope to get back into the thick of things.....

Hello,
Ubuntu 13.10 will be released on October 17th.
It is great to see so much enthusiasm around this event.
In the wake of current disclosures on breach of privacy of normal citizens around the world, may I also suggest we have a key-signing party?

Hope to see everyone tomorrow!
