Hi,
Java script is a client side executible.. so even if you deploy it on a linux server... it is the browser u use to acces the page which determines whether it will work or not.
I have used version 7.0 of Netscape and it supports a lot of Javascript functionality which IE supports... even the object model is similar to IE.

Netscape invented Javascript. Therefore, it would be correct to say that IE supports most of Javascript. What Netscape supports is the standard.
