Short answer: no.
Informative answer: Find out if you're using ext2, ext3, or something else, and see (google) if there's a way to recover files.
Long-term solution: Backups.
Snarky comment which is true but will get me flamed for being unhelpful: If these files are so important, why don't you have backups?

backups are the things one was scheduled to do 5 minutes after the files got lost

If you are using ext2 file system then u can retrieve your files back using debugfs, but incase ext3 wont be able to do that.

Nobody uses ext2 filesystem since past 2-3 years. (unless for some special reason) . Taking backups is best bet, but who takes regular backups of one's home computer? All the contents of my 120 GB harddisk are important to me, but it isn't possible for me to take backup of everything regularly.
