Hi everybody.
I work in Pune and come home to Mumbai on weekends..I wanted to check my account daytime balance and I entered my telephone no. as the user id as usual and correct password and it says Invalid User ID .. My connection is ON all bills cleared then what the heck is wrong. Also the same username/password is used on the ADSL router (PPPOE) to authenticate to the server and only then you can surf.so I guess there is a problem on their webserver.
any1else with the same problem??
I know they have changed the timings for checking your account information @ register.mtnl.net.in.but I was checking when the service was available.
Regards.

You are not alone. I am getting the same "Invalid User ID" message. I guess, MTNL has screwed up again.
One could understand such screw ups with Mom-n-Pop shops who are usually short staffed and things slip through the cracks.
However for MTNL, an incumbent TELCO, with world class equipment and presumably trained staff such screw ups @ regular intervals is unbelievable. Recall, in beginning of Oct/05 their pppoe authentication was non existent for almost 10 days i.e. any password was accepted. Finally, when it was restored the password was set to the "CA" string in their bill - indicating they did not have any backups to restore the passwords from. Scary :(

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Dude, I think you got bigger problems if on a saturday night you were trying to log in to your mtnl account to check your balance etc instead of being out somewhere.
Well, in anycase it is working now. (true, was not working earlier..) but mark my words. This is the least of your worries. :) abhi

Dude, what I do with my time is my business.

I have a dispute (almost a year old) of over Rs. 5000/- with MTNL due to wrongful charge on my ADSL usage. To keep a tab I capture monthly (previous) usage on the first day of the month. I will stop worrying if you could reimburse the disputed amount :)
Just curious, why the heck were you checking your MTNL account on a Saturday night :(
BTW, are you located in the US/PDT time zone? If not, please correct your timestamp - shows a offset of -0700.
-- Arun Khan (knura at yahoo dot com) Don't worry over what other people are thinking about you. They're too busy worrying over what you are thinking about them.

Never mind, you are probably using Yahoo's web interface.

Who said you were the only one with problems? join the gang.
Speaking of MTNL triband. here's my question. Number A has NU plan and number B has regular plan. If I log in from B using login/password of A, would the amount used be deducted from A or B or none or both?
If 2 or more users are logged on after midnight using a NU plan, would it work? work as in, could both be simultaneously ON without getting billed?
thanks abhishek

Your account is tied to your line, literally. So it doesnt matter what the hell you use to login, your account will be billed ;)

Ya. That was very funny. MTNL offering RH certs. They should be booking all available seats for internal staff for the next yr. But it at least shows someone in MTNL is atleast aware of the real world. Also most of the software maintenance work was sub contracted and those engineers had no clue about security, load balancing etc. To me they seemed clueless about networking in general. This was a year ago at Prabhadevi exchange.
