Is this model available in Mumbai? If so, anyone had a look at it, price etc?
I have seen a model in Dubai (8.9" dispay, 512MB RAM, 120HDD, V7 1.2GHz, 1.3 Megapixel Webcam) retailing for about AED 1550 (+100 AED for 1GB RAM upgrade). The OS is Novell/SuSE Linux desktop. The keyboard is larger (and IMO more useable) compared to Acer One and the new ASUS EEEpc. The downside is that the warranty on units sold in Dubai is not valid in India.

What is the initial pricing there?

You mean in Dubai? Please see my OP. It is AED 1550 [1] for 512MB RAM, 120GB HDD. Comes with installed Novell/SuSE 10.
[1] 1AED = Rs. 13 (approx.)

It is very annoying to find that gnu/linux versions of mini notebooks of different makes are always lower end in hardware. It is as if we don't deserve better hardware.

Thanks for the price points; are they for the Vista version or also the Linux version. Rs. 37K seems way out of line for the Linux system with only 4GB SSD.
I have seen a WinXP Home version (not Vista) out in Dubai with 1GB RAM, 1.8 GHz VIA C7 CPU for around AED 2000 (1AED = Rs. 13).

AED 2000 x 13 = Rs. 26,000/-. Today at Croma I found a new player in the mini section. It was a Lenovo 10" with Atom processor and costing Rs. 26,000/-. Buying in India will let you avail of the warranty. There is another HCL 7" tablet version costing about 35K. Its display is mounted on a pivot and can be rotated and flattened and it is also a touch screen.

I cannot recollect the model number but a client of mine bought a mini HP 8.9" screen notebook with 1 GB RAM and Vista preloaded. It was bought for about 29K. However it is not as mini as other minis. It has wasted a lot of width and is not very light like the 1 Kg ones.
