I am using 915 motherboard,which has a lan card onboard on it. In linux there is a problem with the sound driver as well as with the lancard. i am not able to configure both. lancard is of intel(r) pro/100 ve network connection. sound is of realtek.
can please anybody help me?.

welcome to Gnu/Linux, .. 1] for sound, try as root , system-config-soundcard 2] for lan card , do "dmesg" or "modprobe" and check output for the card h/w details ( example, realtek so check for say, 8139 ) If u find that anywhere on the output, it means the h/w is detected. If u are unable to find it then post a detailed outline of the steps u took to this list and someone will guide you further. _Svaksh_

boot knoppix it will detect everything. note the settings in knoppix. Boot your normal OS and add the settings detected in knoppix

Please give a proper subject to your mail next time. Also tell which distribution you are using (RedHat/Mandrake/Debian).
Also please run the lspci command as root and paste the text in this mail.
