hi luggers
I have got a trivial yet frustrating problem at hand. Whenever I use the mouse the mouse pointer automatically goes to the left hand top corner of the screen and refuses to budge from there. I have tried all sorts of things to rectify it however
I couldn't find a remedy. Can anybody who has had a similar problem please help me out?
Thanking you in anticipation

Most likely problem is that the gpm configuration is wrong. Try running gpmconfig as root ... also make sure that your X settings have the correct entries for the mouse port and all ...
SameerDS.

Windows/linux or both? Linux shell or X or both? Do you have a modem? I've seen this once before, when the Bios had serial ports set to auto. You must specify an IO port and IRQ for the serial ports in your bios, or the OS (most OSes) will suddenly switch serial ports. Weird.

I have the exactly same problem under some special conditions. I have a A4tech (phew!) mouse. I has three buttons and has a small slide button at the side which will toggle the use of 2/3 buttons. Now this mouse works fine when the slide button is on 2. Whenever I try to convert it to a 3 button mouse the mouse pointer goes off to the top left corner and refuses to budge. If I try moving it the cursor simply vibrates and jerks around or something.
