Hi,
I'm trying to use mutt on my Slackware 7.1 box, but on starting it up, it says "/var/spool/mail/root --> no such file or directory errno=2" [to that effect] Now, I have a fair idea of what it means, because I deleted the file called 'root' in /var/spool/mail [even though some stuff in it explicitly told me not to mess around with it]. But is there any way that I can get the file replaced/remade?

Ummm. Why are you running mutt as root? Run your mail client as some other user.

That wasn't about the mail file, it was about deleting the first mail in the mailbox (a mail system message).

Just copy any other user's mail file to root and change owner. Make sure that there is only the default message in it.
